Now, whenever someone mentions Penang, the street murals of George Town will never be left out of discussion. Similarly, my host had that planned out for me, but before anything else, they drove me to a local Rojak stall to kick start my Penang trip.

I absolutely adore the Muah Chee (Glutinous Rice Balls) sold by this uncle in the most traditional method I know – on a motorbike. A nostalgic scene you don’t get to see anymore back in Singapore. You can easily know that he’s there because that strong sugary, roasted peanut fragrance is unmistakable and unavoidable. Unknowingly, you will drift towards his stall haha! Uncle only have a bucket of steamed glutinous rice dough, I suppose when the bucket is emptied, he closes for the day.

These glutinous balls are the softest I had in a long time, not very braces friendly but still a wonderful snack anyhow. Served warm and chewy, these snack balls are rolled over finely chopped roasted peanut and fine sugar. A simple yet satisfying food.

Apart from immersing into the culture, what else to do when you are in Penang other than stuffing yourself silly with all the amazing Penang delights? Dinner was settled at Lebuh Kimberely night market; also located within George Town. My excellent host sat me down and soon returned with a table full of food. Penang laska, Dim Sum, Yong Tau Fu soup and a childhood dessert! - Peanut Soup!

Heritage buildings are easily spotted in Penang, but there is this particular one that is frequently spoke about – China House. Known as the longest café in Penang, China House host several cafes, galleries, restaurant and shop etc. With over 10 different selection of cakes to choose from, Beach Street Bakery is the paradise for people with sweet tooth. Apart from cakes and pastries, they offer ice-cream as well! Took our cakes and settled down in Vine & Single bar, where my host generously ordered champagnes and craft beers to go with the desserts. Now, that's how holiday nights should end 😉

Garden by the Bay have always been an amazing tourist attraction with multiple exhibits all year round. In conjunction with May the 4th, the entire place lit up with neon shades of red, blue and green, an immediate linkage to the colors of the light sabers shown in Star Wars movie.

Known as the city of lights, the beauty of Singapore comes alive when night falls. With only a short period of showing, I knew the place was going to be crazily packed with visitors and unbearable heat. But something about the distant sound of the Imperial March had my heart racing faster with each beat, and my excitement meter shooting sky high.

At the first glimpse of the neon lighted trees, my Sony A5000 was already in my hand, busy snapping away. I couldn't care less about the pushes and wails coming from frustrated kids; my eyes were glued to the dazzling lights.

So beautiful.

Swimming through the crazy pool of visitors, we managed to find a good spot under one of the saber trees, patiently waiting for the garden rhapsody to kickoff. It was the last show time of the day, so you can imagine the amount of people there.

"There's nothing to do in Singapore. It's always just food and movies" - Now, this is a common statement made by many around me. And I can't deny I am guilty of it as well. Thanks to Hendra from Trapped Escape Room, I found a new place to hang out with my family and friends.

Founded by the same group of people from Trapped Escape Room, Combat Zone is the first indoor air-conditioned shooting area that uses NERF blasters. In case you are wondering what NERF blasters are, they are actually toy guns made by Hasbro that fires foam darts and balls.

With the invitation, I gathered my siblings and friends and brought them down to the arena for a day of fun. The arena isn't exactly spacious but it was well equipped with obstacles and boxes for hiding. Before the friendly battle match begin, safety goggles and vest were issued. The minimum number of players to start the game is 2, and maximum 10. I would recommend a full 10 pax game (5 per team) for maximum fun and challenge!

We were brief with the rules and regulations and given a period of time to test out and get use to the NERF blasters. We were in a battle of 3 by 3 and the guys definitely had no problem figuring out the loading of cartridges or accurate shooting. By the time we were done with practice, everyone was already hyped up and ready to get the foam darts flying ha-ha!

After nearly 2 hours of battling, I have to declare... I NEVER HAD SUCH A FUN TIME FOR A LONG WHILE! Ha-ha! Sure I was dodging bullets and hiding behind shelter most of the time when the battle started, but by second half of the game, I was bravely approaching my opponents and grabbing my chance at shooting off the targets! Not to mention how this is actually a pretty good workout session with all the dodging, balancing and quick reflexes movements.

We were all equipped with the Retaliator for the standard package and it comes with free flow foam darts for reloading and mind you, the darts comes in big buckets! Occasionally, reloading could be an hassle as the cartridge could get stuck. But thankfully, the friendly game marshall is always there to assist any issue. Thumbs up.
