One Friday in March, we decided to leave our cozy new home for a little getaway. With Emmett’s school closed for the day, it felt like the perfect opportunity to enjoy a staycation at Oasia Resort Sentosa — and to celebrate our anniversary a little early too. Sentosa always feels like a travel cheat code to us — a mini escape to another island, yet just a short trip from Singapore.

We had initially booked a Premier Room for one night. But to our delight, during check-in, the wonderful hotel staff surprised us with a special upgrade after learning we were there for an anniversary celebration. We assumed we’d been upgraded to the Courtyard Premier Room, so you can imagine our shock and excitement when we opened the door and saw a spiral staircase leading to the rooftop!

A little online research revealed that we had actually been upgraded to the Duplex Suite. I like to think my good karma — helping a couple of tourists find their way to the hotel earlier — had something to do with it. The first level of the suite featured a spacious living area, a plush king-sized bed, and a double vanity bathroom with separate shower and toilet rooms. There was even a huge soaking bathtub perfect for relaxing.

The spiral staircase led us up to our very own private rooftop pool and outdoor lounge area. Part of my plan for the staycation was to clock in some swim laps, and having a private pool made me feel beyond excited. No more sharing a crowded public pool!

We truly had a wonderful time. Emmett had so much space to run around and play in the room, and we got to relax and create beautiful memories together.
